We have recently welcomed another two lunchtime supervisors, Mrs Sue Paton and Miss Libby McLinton to join our support team.

We have also been able to appoint Miss Ashleigh Cummins to cover for Ms Byrne when she starts her maternity leave shortly after the start of the summer term. Miss Cummins is an excellent teacher, who knows the school well and has already helped to cover on a number of occasions in the past. We are lucky to be able to recruit someone of her calibre given the current staffing shortages across education as a whole.

As a result of changes to the Parental Leave policy, Mrs Langdon has decided to extend her parental leave until the end of the school year and will now re-join us in September. We are grateful that Mrs Baigent has agreed to stay with us until the end of the school year to keep the continuity in learning for the children.

This week we have been interviewing for a replacement for Mrs Allman from September and, despite the difficulties which I have already mentioned, we shortlisted three very strong candidates for this crucial role at JCP. A final decision as to who will be appointed will be made very soon. I envisage that the Education Department will also turn their attention – hopefully in the not-too-distant future - to finding a replacement for myself for September. I will, of course, let you know as soon as I do!
