Fairtrade Fortnight

News

The second week of Fairtrade fortnight ended today with everyone dressing, in the distinctive Fairtrade colours. Thank you to everyone especially Mrs Christopher and our hard-working Eco Team for getting so involved. It was wonderful to see the contents of so many Fairtrade lunchboxes throughout the school and it really highlighted our commitment to making the right choices at our local supermarkets.

We had a wonderful message of thanks from Tony Allchurch, Chairman of the Jersey Fairtrade Island Group and a good friend of ours at JCP, following the Eco Team’s feature on BBC Radio Jersey recently:

“I have been listening to the brilliant “Morning Thoughts” by Ashley, Eva, George, Sarah, Matilda and Florence on Wednesday, and Maisie, Isabella and Charlie yesterday on BBC Radio Jersey. It is such a joy to hear their passionate support for the plight of poor farmers and their recognition of the challenges that those farmers are having to contend with due to the climate emergency. Thank you for providing listeners with such thoughtful and well-prepared presentations that convey the vital messages of Fairtrade Fortnight. The Jersey Fairtrade Island Group is so grateful for the enthusiastic support that it receives each year from JCPrep.”

What a wonderful testament to what we, as a school, are all about; being articulate, passionate, resilient and community minded!

Today we received an email to congratulate our school on yet again renewing our status as a Fairtrade School, and we have been proud to fly Daisy’s JCP Fairtrade flag in our school grounds!
