Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE)

PSHE is a planned programme of learning through which children and young people acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives – now and in the future.  As part of a whole-school approach, PSHE develops the qualities and attributes our children need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.

Our school follows the Jigsaw Programme to teach PSHE to our children. Jigsaw brings together PSHE Education, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development.  Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Jigsaw puzzle) at the same time.  This enables each Puzzle to start with an introductory assembly, generating a whole school focus for teachers and children alike. We celebrate each puzzle piece through a whole school Jigsaw display, highlighting some of the learning and activities the children have completed throughout that half term.  The six puzzle pieces we teach are:

Autumn 1: Being Me in My World

Autumn 2: Celebrating Differences (including anti-bullying)

Spring 1: Dreams and Goals

Spring 2: Healthy Me

Summer 1: Relationships

Summer 2: Changing Me (including Sex Education)
